The Free Ski and Snowboard Teams are weekend programs. The first day of training will be on Saturday, December 5.
The athletes will meet their coaches in the lower level of the Bear Mountain Golf Course Clubhouse at 9:30 AM and will go out for training at 10:00 AM. They will be ready for pick up between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. The clubhouse is on the north side of Club View, across the street from Bear Mountain Resort.
Parents may enter the parking lot by the Golf Course Clubhouse off of Club View Drive and proceed into the lower part of the parking lot. This is only to drop off and pick up athletes. Parents will receive a Drop Off Pass on the first day of training. The pass should be displayed on the dashboard of their car so the parking personnel can identify them as team parents and will allow them to drive in to drop off their athletes. The pass is NOT a parking pass. It will allow parents to stop no longer than 15 minutes.
Athletes will need to provide their own equipment: skis/snowboard, boots, poles, helmets, goggles, gloves, and winter clothing. At the time of sign up, you were not charged the $100 uniform rental fee because we are in the process of ordering jackets for you to purchase at our cost. Make sure you have responded to Head Coach Kyle’s request for jacket sizes.
On the first day of training, the athletes will be assigned lockers to use for storing their equipment. The athletes will need to bring their own combination lock for the locker. They may keep their equipment in the locker during the season, but if they want to use the equipment mid-week, they will not have access to the locker room for their equipment. The locker room will only be manned on the weekends. As a result, they need to plan ahead and if they will want to use their equipment midweek, they’ll need to take it with them on Sunday.
Athletes may bring their lunch, a water bottle, and a snack to training and can store their food in their locker. Please make sure that any leftover food is taken home nightly.
Free Ski and Snowboard Team members are invited to join the full-time race team members for strength and agility training at Stellar Crossfit on Fridays from 4:00 to 5:00. SSST has paid the fee to reserve the gym at that time on Fridays throughout the season. There is an additional $5 fee per session per athlete for the training. At this time, the athletes’ families need to carpool or provide their own transportation. Stellar Crossfit is located at 41922 Fox Farm Road in Big Bear Lake, CA. The training sessions are taught and supervised by certified Crossfit coaches.
We are looking forward to a great season!
