Victor was well known in the California Ski Industry. He worked at
Mammoth Mountain, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit Mountain Resort before
his untimely death in a skiing accident during the 1996-97 Season.
Vic’s passion was ski racing and so his family, friends, and former co-workers
enjoy being involved in this annual event that benefits the Snow Summit
Race Team. Join us in keeping Vic’s passion for ski racing alive!
The race is a “Village Championship” type of format that draws skiers from
all over California and the “Far West” division of USSA. The competition is a
really fun family-oriented fund-raiser. It is a pro-style dual Giant Slalom with cash prizes. The event starts off with qualifying runs and then the participants’ names are placed on a racing start grid, and the eliminations begin. Racers who win their heat move on to race other winners. Those who do not win are eliminated. All D-Team, Race Team Members and Masters are greatly encouraged to participate, as well as adventurous members of the public.
Anyone who would like to make a donation to the silent auction may do
so on Saturday morning between the hours of 7:30-10:00 in the team room
above Guest Services at Snow Summit.
On behalf of the Alvarez family, we appreciate your help and look
forward to seeing you out at the “Jim Bollingmo Finish Arena” and at the
Silent Auction in Bear Bottom Lodge from 10:00 to 4:00. Bring your friends. There will be some great items that you won’t want to miss out on!
